If you haven’t heard, Davidson Contemporary closed its doors last night for the final time. Sam is re-consolidating his two spaces into one. His “old” space on Occidental will be reconfigured during the month of December, and the Contemporary Paintings and Sculpture department will re-open in the Occidental space in January.
It’s a sad day for me, as the Davidson Contemporary space was — in my mind — the most appropriate and beautiful space for my work in Seattle. It was terrific luck that it happened to be my gallery, too. The only other physical space that is close to what my work wants is James Harris Gallery.
Here’s hoping that the reconfigured space on Occidental will have some of that same mojo. It definitely has a lot more foot traffic.
